No Time Like the Present

By David Hamilton
We all make plans in life, and we have the best intentions of fulfilling those plans. These plans could involve changing our career path, bettering our marriage, getting a project done around the house or doing some work for the Lord. Unfortunately, often times our plans get interrupted, and we postpone that which really should be done. We make it our aim at a later time to fulfill our plans, but time quickly passes by and those plans fall by the wayside.
The result? We stay on a career path we don't enjoy, we allow our marriage to fall into a rut, we let the house get run down, and we fail to do for the Lord what we promised we would do. There is a better solution to this difficulty. Instead of allowing our plans to fall by the wayside, we could put the words of Ecclesiastes 9:10 into practice: "Whatever you hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grace where you are going." The translation of this verse is simple: Do what you have planned to do now for there may not be a tomorrow.
What is it that you have postponed? Whatever it is, please rethink your position. Those who accomplish the most in life are the ones who sense the urgency of the moment and act upon it.
