How Rich Are You?

I consider myself to be one of the richest people in the world. Now when I say this I am not referring to wealth of a physical or financial nature. My riches are not found nor can be measured in financial portfolios or physical possessions. Although God continually blesses me with physical blessings, my wealth is really not material. It is spiritual. And so is your wealth if you are a Christian. Because this is so, you too should consider yourself to be one of the richest people in the world.
Proverbs 13:7 alludes to this wealth we possess when the writer Solomon says, “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; and one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches,” Surely, this truth applies to every child of God. We make ourselves rich when we accept by faith and obedience Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross. It is then we are given the wealth of the salvation of our souls and the hope of eternal life! This truth is describes to us in 2 Corinthians 8:9. The apostle Paul, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, writes, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”
Let us all rejoice in the fact that even if we don’t have a nickel in our pocket we can still be one of the richest people in the entire world! Thanks be to God for this precious blessing!
