Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a very moving holiday on our nation’s calendar. It is a day of reflection and remembrance that honors all of the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price so that we can enjoy all of our freedoms. It is my prayer that all of us will in some special way take the time to remember those who have given their lives so that we can breathe the sweet air of freedom each day in this great country.
Similarly, there was a man who lived nearly two thousand years ago who also paid the ultimate price for our freedom. The freedom He purchased was not physical in nature, but rather spiritual. His name is Jesus, and He died a cruel and painful death on a Roman cross in order to set us free from the power of sin and death.
As we take the time this weekend to remember and honor the brave men and women who have died for our physical freedom, let us also take the time in worship and praise to remember and honor the One who died for our spiritual freedom. Praise be to God for His all of His blessings!
