Are We Prepared To Work?
Today will be another historic day for the Franklin congregation when it announces the appointment of three good men to be elders. Our congregation has prayed long and hard for this day to arrive, and it will truly be a blessing to our congregation. It has been a tough road these last few months, but now comes a time of transition and excitement for the church.
But, during this time there has been one question that should concern us. The question of - are we prepared to work? It is something that the overall membership at Franklin should be asking.
You see - many churches do unfortunately fall under the category of having a lot to do, but not a lot of people to do it. We will always have a lot to do because of our responsibility to spread the gospel. Jesus even told us in Luke 10:2 that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” We will always have a lot to do here at the church and in the community. We will always need Bible class teachers, chaperones, committee members, program leaders, etc. We will always need to be spreading His wonderful message, to our friends and neighbors. We will always have work to do for the Lord. But, there is still the question - are we prepared to work?
Are we ready to do what we can for this church? These three men and our other elders are excited for this day to happen. My prayer is that you are excited to be a part of this historic day, and to get ready for the challenges ahead of us. We must be prepared to work not only for this church, but also for our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. I ask you again - are we prepared to work?
