The Stock Boy and The Checkout Girl
One day in a mid-western supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy was frantically working when he heard a new voice over the loud speaker. He was almost finished with his work, and ready to go home, but he responded to the call. As he approached the checkout stand a distant smile caught his eye, it was the new checkout girl and she was beautiful.
Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. He found out during his break that her name was Brenda. One day he offered her a ride home from work, and she reluctantly agreed. A few days later, he asked her out on a date, but she turned him down because she couldn’t pay a baby-sitter. He said he would pay for one. So, she agreed to go out on the date. Well, the day of the date came, but the baby-sitter didn’t show up. Kurtis wasn’t worried because he said they were going to take the kids with them. Brenda was surprised because she didn’t think a man could be that nice to her daughter and son, who had Down’s syndrome. You see their father had left them, and Brenda didn’t think she could trust another man.
Well, Brenda did trust that stock boy, and now they are married. They live in Arizona where they now have four children, and Kurtis is employed by the Arizona Cardinals as the starting quarterback, and is headed to Super Bowl XLIII.
You see - Kurt Warner is no ordinary guy; he was an extraordinary man who loved no matter what the situation. We can all learn from Kurt’s example of not being ordinary, but extraordinary. We need to love and care for each other no matter what lies in front of us. We can all be extraordinary if we follow the ways of Christ. I Peter 2:21 states that, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.”
