In Praise of Mothers

Salary.com released its 9th Annual Mom Salary Survery this past Tuesday. What it revealed was very astonishing to me. The survey determined that the time mothers spend performing the ten most popular “mom job functions” would equate to an annual cash compensation of $122,732 for a Stay-at-Home Mom and an additional $76,184 for a Working Mom, up 5% and 11% respectively from 2008. I know our mothers do a lot of things for us, but I never knew you could put that type of price tag on one of the most valuable jobs in the world. I think of moms in the light of the MasterCard commericals and see them as being PRICELESS.

We really can’t put a price tag on what our mothers mean to us. Our mothers are more valuable to us in their spiritual values. We should be thankful for their spiritual guidance in our lives.

1. Raise to Praise: Thank God for Her Godliness (Prov. 31:28-31)
A. Every child should praise her godly qualities.
B. Every husband is to be the example by praising his wife.

2. Verb The Superb: State Out How She Stands Out (Prov. 31:29)
A. Negative comparisons tear down her heart.
B. Positve praise builds up a heart.

3. Impart Her Heart: Characterize Her Godly Character
(Prov. 31:30; 1 Peter 3:3-4; & 1 Timothy 2:9-10)
A. Don’t base her worth on temporal values.
B. Praise her for her Godly virtues.

4. Award Her Reward: Parade Her Godly Grade (Prov. 31:31)
A. Praise her for the fruits that she has produced.
B. Others recognize her worth - so should her family.

You see according to the survey a mother averages a 91.6 hour work week with an average of only 6.7 hours of sleep per night. But, we know that our mothers are there working for us 24/7, and we should be thankful. Our mothers are priceless! There is no better way to repay them other than to give them our PRAISE!
